When you’re set out to achieve something, it’s always a bonus when your goals are met. We’ve come to identify with our members there’s always a great advantage to finding fresh new people to collaborate with on the site compared to working with existing connections. But instead of hearing it from us, have a look at our most recently Music Gateway Catch up where we we’re pleased to recently catch up with award winning songwriter Leo Capper who gave us his opinion on the platform, some advice on pitching for sync opportunities and much more.
#1 Tell us a bit about yourself, your company and your background.
I'm an Award winning songwriter and Producer from Ireland. As well as Songwriting, I enjoy writing Instrumentals for TV, having had placements with MTV in the U.S. My latest track will be released soon in Germany with Kontor Records and Sony.
#2 How’re you enjoying the platform, what benefits have you noticed so far?
I've made great connections with Talented Songwriters and Topliners. Some of my songs are currently on hold with Labels and also i have tracks on hold for sync opportunities.
#3 What was your goal when you first signed up to the platform, has those needs been met?
My goal was to collaborate with talented songwriters and to get the songs placed and to get my Instrumental tracks placed with Sync deals. I believe it's only a matter of time before I get some placements via MusicGateway, as I have had placements with MTV in the U.S.
#4 You’ve been involved with quite a few projects in the past in regards to placing songs with TV Shows, what advice would you give to other songwriters/artists or producers who want to stand out in the crowd when it comes to pitching there songs for sync opportunities?
My best advice for Producers is, that your tracks need to be top quality. There really is no such thing as a 'demo' anymore, each track needs to be Radio ready when pitching to labels and sync opportunities, A&R are looking for hits songs.
#5 What are the main advantages for you with running projects through the Music Gateway platform as opposed to working with existing connections?
It gives me a chance to work with new talent and to bring fresh ideas to my projects.
#6 What advice would you give to other members looking to utilise the site to aid their career?
Identify your strengths and weakness and look to work with people who will complement you, i.e if you like to write lyrics and vocals, look to work with a Producer.
#7 What advice would you give to members in order to staying pro-active in the Music Industry?
You need to be extremely persistent, have a lot of confidence and patience, generally be a nice person. Because you need to be able to get on with people in the music industry.
#8 Do you have any upcoming projects for us to check out?
My latest track will be released at the end of July with Kontor Records and Sony.
